Some of you might have seen me style this Ankara maxi skirt a few times before now. Especially if you know me personally or follow me on social media. But on the blog, this is the first time this beautiful piece is appearing.

Usually, I’d wear this Ankara maxi skirt to church, paired with either a white long sleeved shirt or a black lace top. But for today’s post, I decided to go for something a bit more stylish. And what better piece than a white off shoulder top? I completed my look with a head wrap from the same fabric as the skirt. And for comfort, I wore flat sandals and kept my accessories minimal.

Hey guys! It’s been a minute, how did May treat you? 2017 has got no chill, I can’t believe it’s the end of the month already.

So you know how I’ve been obsessing over wrap dresses. I mentioned it in previous post how I’m so into all sorts of wrap clothing. Well, on today’s post I’m styling two wrap pieces; a wrap top and a wrap skirt. Now I was supposed to share three ways to style these two pieces, but on shoot day, time was not on our side as we started late and Millennium Park closes by 6:00pm. So that pretty much sums up why I couldn’t shoot the third look on that day. Although I intended to do a photoshoot for the third look, but you wouldn’t believe that I haven’t had time at all. And I can’t keep holding the post- the month is gone already. So here we go guys, instead of three ways I’m doing two.

It’s pretty easy when it comes to styling prints. One could either mix or match the pieces. And there are unlimited ways to mix Ankara pieces like these. So for Look One, I simply matched the set and because of the style of the wrap skirt, I didn’t need to accessorize much as there was already a chic and edgy appeal to my look. I finished my look with a pair of black bow detailed pumps and a statement bangle.

And for Look Two, I paired the top with a pair of black pants. I opted for black pants because black is safe, you know “Black is a safe go to” LOL. Also went for my favorite pair of black mules and finished with the same statement bangle. For a bright look, I plan to pair this wrap top with orange pants and/or white pants. Can’t wait to see how the look turns out. In future posts, I’d be pairing this skirt with a different top and I also can’t wait to share. That’d be the supposed “look three”.

Hey guys... How are you all doing today?

This is my first outfit post for the year. And that’s after being away for a very long time. These photos were shot some weeks ago but I’ve been preoccupied with my sister’s wedding preparations. If you follow me on Instagram you must have seen lots of photos from the wedding. Thank God the wedding was successful. Anyways, I made sure that the month of February doesn’t go by without this post. (I couldn’t even wait for my photographer to edit the pictures).

So! Mom jeans are one of the most comfortable forms of jeans to wear and they can be styled in a whole lot of ways. Here, I decided to style mine with this very lovely yellow coat that’s made of African prints. As a fashion designer, I have great love for textiles and I’m particular about Ankara. If I haven’t mentioned it yet, I actually plan to incorporate African prints to whatever outfit I wear in my daily life. It’s one of my 2017 goals. (I’ll do a post on my ‘2017 goals’ really soon). So far, it’s been fun wearing a touch of Ankara every day. Let’s see how far I go with achieving this goal. Plus, I’m eager to see the various ways I’d style African prints in the coming days. It’s indeed fun and I know I can do it.

The yellow coat I wore in this post is really very breezy, and can be worn anytime, any day. Especially in this region where there’s no serious cold. It’s perfect for our Nigerian weather. The coat is not thick at all, so you need not worry. I imagine some of my readers wondering why one would wear a coat in our hot environment. But it’s safe to say this coat is more like a duster jacket. Coats like this one comes really handy when you’re dressed in -take for instance all white, and you need to avoid getting any stain.

By now you must have noticed my sneakers. And probably wondering if they came with the embellishments or if I had pimped them myself. Well, YES guys, I transformed my plain white sneakers to this. Just in case you don’t know yet, the classic clean white sneakers are out of trend and what’s in this year are bedazzled, embellished, bejewelled, be-funky, be-not-boring sneakers. LOL. And if I must confess, I’m loving the trend and I hope you do too.

It’s such a shame that I didn’t remember to document the process. I have no step by step photos or video to share with you. But if you would like to see the DIY process, kindly let me know in the comments section below.

Ankara Shakara...

Its all over the place- Ankara accessories. From bangles to necklaces to brooches, to shoes to slippers to bags to hair pieces to rings to glasses to belts.. Just name it! Even to ties and cuff links for guys: And yeah, I love it! Bright, beautiful Ankara and proudly Nigerian.

Here's a few tips on how to rock your Ankara accessories.

Be sure not to wear more than three ankara accessories all at once.. ie don't wear Ankara shoes, bags, earring, bangles and neck piece all in one out fit.. Less is always more..

You can spice up your casual tee shirt and jeans with a statement Ankara piece such as a big brooch or neck piece..

With ankara accessories you don't have to bother about matching colors, but be sure the pieces you choose complement your entire out fit.

Saturday/Sunday is a great day to rock your Ankara accessories and do your Ankara shakara.
