Day 5 – Last Day

My last day in Zanzibar and I was already missing the beautiful place. I remember t went downstairs with my phone and took as many pictures as possible of the beautiful place, curating photos in order to keep lasting memories and of course social media. After that, I headed back to the room, thankfully I’d already done little packing the previous night, so I only needed to eat and get ready for the trip back to Ethiopia.

I opted to wear this off shoulder top and pants co-ord set from Maudiffied, flat sandals for comfort and the blue/white stripped scarf to accessories. The beautiful scarf was one of the items in the goody bag I got when I attended the 2017 bloggers hangout organized by The Blogger Point. I couldn’t do a review on the event because I was too busy holidaying in Zanzibar.

So we flew from Zanzibar, one stop at Kilimanjaro and finally landed in Addis Ababa to layover and head to Abuja, Nigeria the next morning. Guys, when we arrived Addis, it was cold… Unexpectedly cold, I checked my phone’s weather update, it was 14 degrees. And that was when I realized my outfit was a wrong choice.

This brings us to the end of my Zanzibar Vacation Diaries. I hope you followed the series from Day One? This is pretty much the summary of my experiences during my holiday in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Day 4 – Beach Day, Beach Life, Beach Style

The fourth day and instead of going snorkeling at Kizimzazi, I’m doing nothing other than relaxing by the beach. The weather was just perfect and all I could think of was to go lay under the sheds by the beach seeing as my partner didn’t want to go on another adventure (especially as swimming underwater and dolphins are involved) and I didn’t want to go alone. Thinking about it now, I should have gone! So as usual, after bathing, I slapped sun protection cream all over my body, wore my swimsuit + kimono, was about to head down stairs for breakfast but then decided to take a few pictures of what I’m wearing. After that, I went for my breakfast and then to the beach without wasting time. My breakfast must have digested while I was sitting under the sheds.

I saw different scenes that went on on the ocean. The three guys that came paddling their different canoes, one falling off and the others helping him get back on (I have a video). I nibbled on snacks as I watched the ocean’s tide rising till it covered the entire seashore. I think at some point I slept off (the cool breeze does that to me a lot). I realized I had spent enough time at the beach and decided to go back up to sleep even more – it’s a relaxing vacation now.

Later in the evening, we went for a stroll in Stone Town again. We shopped for souvenirs and I took so much pictures of Zanzibar seeing as my holiday was coming to an end. Like we were literally returning to Addis the next day.

Soon it was dark and we needed to return to our hotel, when we arrived, I put on my swimsuit again and went down to the swimming area (this was about past 7pm and I left my phone in my room so no pictures). I got into the warm pool of water and just sat there feeling some kind of way because I knew in me that the vacation was over.

Day 3(B) - #FunDay #BeachLife

After breakfast, the remaining part of my day was spent by the beach. I changed my outfit (the off shoulder dress) and wore a suitable swim wear that would cover my breakfast filled tummy.

You see, high waisted swimsuits are perfect for curvy ladies. Although I’m not curvy, I opted for the high waist swim wear because like I mentioned, I had just eaten. And had not only drank a cup of tea, but also a full glass of juice. And of course, my tummy pouch came out to play. It just so happens that whenever anything goes into my stomach, a pouch automatically pops up. Even if I drink only water. Although I hardly work out, but I’m trying to eat healthy. Guys, does flat tummy tea really work? Kindly let me know if you’ve tried it. So to save the day, I decided to wear this cute pair of pin up girl red polka dot high waist bikini swimsuit that somehow reminds me of Caroline Monroe- I guess because of the pin up girl vibes. I love the retro feel and I wish I shot more creative images with the swimsuit. (Permission to repeat swimwear anytime soon? LOL). To cover up, I wore a blue floral maxi kimono and accessorized with the needful hat and sunglasses. White sunnies because, retro!

So I cannot swim, I do not know how to. I’ve never learnt. So during my vacation, all I did was get into the water to take pictures (shot from quite a distance because even my partner wasn’t ready to get into the water) and got out. Then I laid/sat under the sheds drinking fresh fruit juice, snacking on biscuits, chocolate and pringles while enjoying and capturing every bit of the beautiful ocean view.

Day 3(A) – In My Sunday Best

Outfit details:

Dress – Maudiffied, Sandals – Jumia, nude, brown.

It was the third day of my vacation and also a Sunday. For someone who usually woke up early on Sunday mornings to prepare for church, it was quite fun having to sleep longer till 9am. After waking up, the only thing I did was have my bath and dress up in my Sunday best. You see, although I wasn’t going to church, the Nigerian Christian in me knows I’m to dress up “nicely” on a Sunday morning. So I decided to wear a multicoloured off shoulder dress in bold stripes. It’s light weight, bright and colourful. Just right for the weather. On my feet, I wore comfy flat sandals as usual and zero accessories because I’m here to relax… Moreso, the dress was a statement on its own and required very little or no accessory. I packed wisely!

After breakfast, I changed my outfit to go spend the rest of the day by the beach. I’d be talking and sharing images about that in my next post. So stay tuned.

Day 2

Waking up to a beautiful ocean view was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Plus it was my first. I remember going live on Instagram that morning, of course I needed to share the beautiful view.

My agenda for the day was to go tour Stone Town. So after breakfast, I saw the movie “Naked” on Netflix and before noon our designated driver arrived and took my partner and I to Stone Town. We were introduced to Mohammed-our tour guide when we arrived, settled on the fee for the tour and we decided to have lunch before touring the town. That was the best quick decision ever!

Now I cannot remember all that Mohammed said, but I took quite a lot of photos. LOL. He said so many things about the ancient city. Number one – Stone town, located on the western coast of Unguja is a major tourist attraction in Tanzania. It is a city of prominent historical and artistic importance in East Africa. I remember he mentioned that Stone town is also known as Old town because it is the old part of the city as well as the main city in Zanzibar.  And then he mentioned something about slave trade. But I hardly paid any attention. I was too busy taking photographs of the old city. Oh he also said something about “Tangayika” and “Zanzibar” coming together to form “United republic of Tanzania”. That’s the much I can remember right now. Don’t blame me, a lot of things got me carried away. Meanwhile, my partner took time to listen to Mohammed and even asked a few questions. But for me, I needed the tour guide so that we don’t get lost in the city. So enjoy viewing these images with little or no caption to back them up.
